Principal's Message
Dear Vista del Mar K-8 School Community,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as I begin my third year as the principal of Vista del Mar K-8 School. I feel privileged and honored to continue serving our school and community. I look forward to furthering the traditions and work that make Vista del Mar K-8 a special place for all students to learn and grow socially and academically.
As I embark on my third year, I am more committed than ever to our school’s vision of fostering a nurturing environment where every student can excel. Our goal is to provide an inclusive and supportive atmosphere that promotes academic excellence, social growth, and emotional well-being. Together, we will ensure that Vista del Mar K-8 remains a beacon of learning and community spirit.
I have been in education for twenty-eight years, beginning my career as a fifth-grade teacher and teaching both primary and intermediate grades. I started my administrative journey as an Assistant Principal at Hastings Middle School in Fairhaven, MA, and Santan K-8 in Chandler, AZ. I had the privilege to open Copper Basin K-8 School in Florence, AZ, and Creekside Elementary School K-5 in Danville, CA. Additionally, I have served as a Director of Curriculum and Instructional Technology in the San Ramon Unified School District. I have been with the Capistrano Unified School District for nine years, including my roles as Principal at Concordia Elementary School and, most recently, Principal at Wood Canyon Elementary School.
I was born and raised in Massachusetts and received my Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Broadcast Journalism from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. I also hold a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) from Bridgewater University in Bridgewater, MA. However, my greatest accomplishment is being a father and husband. I have been married for twenty years to my wife, Luana, and we have two wonderful children. My son, Kaeden, is a student at the University of North Dakota, and my daughter, Maile, is in the eight grade at Stonegate Elementary School in Irvine.
As an experienced educator, I understand the importance of a positive school culture, created by building strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and community partners. I look forward to collaborating with all of you to ensure the social, emotional, and academic needs of ALL students continue to be met at Vista del Mar K-8.
Feel free to reach out to me at pbfoucart@capousd.org. Here’s to another successful year ahead! Go Makos!
Warmly,
Paul Foucart
