Principal's Message

Principal's Message

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed principal of Vista del Mar K-8 School.  I feel privileged and honored to become a middle school "Mako" and serve the school and community for years to come.  I look forward to continuing the traditions and work that make Vista Del Mar Middle School, soon to be K-8, a special place for all students to learn and grow socially and academically.

I have been in education for twenty-eight years. I began my career as a fifth grade teacher and have taught both primary and intermediate grades.  I started my administrative career as an Assistant Principal for Hastings Middle School in Fairhaven, MA and Santan K-8 in Chandler, AZ.  I have had the privilege to open up Copper Basin K-8 School in Florence, AZ and Creekside Elementary School K-5 in Danville, CA.  I have been a Director of Curriculum and Instructional Technology in the San Ramon Unified School District.  Finally, I have been with the Capistrano Unified School District for nine years where I served as a Principal at Concordia Elementary School and my present position as Principal at Wood Canyon Elementary School.

I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Broadcast Journalism from University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.  I have a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) from Bridgewater University in Bridgewater, MA.  However, my biggest accomplishment is being a father and husband.  I have been married twenty years to my wife, Luana, and I have two children.  My son, Kaeden is a Sophomore at University of North Dakota and my daughter, Maile, is in the sixth grade at Stonegate Elementary School in Irvine.

As an experienced educator, I understand the importance of a positive school culture which is created by building strong relationships with staff, students, parents and community partners. I look forward to collaborating with all of you to ensure the social, emotional and academic needs of ALL students continue at VDMS K-8.

Feel free to reach out to me at pbfoucart@capousd.org.  Go Makos!

Warmly,

Paul Foucart
